Frequently asked questions

What can I discuss in this call?

Thyroid nodules, goiter, an overactive or underactive thyroid, thyroid cancer, and parathyroid problems are all appropriate topics. The doctor reviews your scans and test results and explains your options in plain language.

What does it cost?

The fee is set by each doctor and shown when you book, paid securely online through Stripe at the time of booking. If you continue with treatment through this doctor, the fee may apply toward the cost.

Should I send my medical records to RFAMD?

No. Never send medical records to RFAMD. After you book, the doctor's office will send secure instructions for sharing your records with them directly.

How should I prepare?

Gather your thyroid scan report, your biopsy result if you have had one, and recent blood tests for TSH, T4, and T3. Write down your symptoms, your medications, and the questions you most want answered.

Is a consultation the same as treatment?

No. The call is a review of your case and a source of expert advice. If you later choose treatment with the same doctor, your consultation fee may apply toward that cost.

Will insurance cover this?

Most insurance plans do not cover private consultations, so you pay out of pocket. Some FSA and HSA accounts may reimburse the cost. Check with your plan administrator.

What if I need treatment in person?

If the doctor recommends ablation or another procedure, they will tell you whether you can travel to their clinic, or refer you to a specialist near you. You can also search our directory by location.

How long does the call last?

Most calls run 15 to 20 minutes. The exact length is shown when you book.

What if no time slots work for me?

Availability changes often. If nothing fits your schedule, contact RFAMD support, and we will help you find another option or notify you when new times open.

Does this count as medical advice?

Yes. The doctor provides an expert opinion based on the case you present. Your final treatment decision should still involve a doctor able to examine you in person, if that becomes necessary.

Still have questions?

Contact RFAMD support for help choosing a specialist, understanding the booking process, or anything else related to consultations.

Medical disclaimer

RFAMD connects patients with thyroid ablation specialists for consultations and second opinions. These calls provide expert medical advice, but they do not establish a formal relationship between doctor and patient, and they do not replace a complete evaluation conducted in person. Final treatment decisions should be made with a treating doctor after that evaluation. Do not send medical records to RFAMD. The doctor's office will provide secure instructions for sharing records after you book.
