Dr. Selma Čaluk


Selma Čaluk, MD, PhD, specialist in nuclear medicine, is the head of the Thyroid Department at the Polyclinic. Her primary field of interest are thyroid diseases, which was also the topic of her doctoral dissertation. She completed her postgraduate studies, education in neck ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound, and clinical and nuclear thyroidology in Zagreb.
Selma Čaluk, MD, PhD, specialist in nuclear medicine, was born in Gračanica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in January 1978. She completed her primary and secondary education in Gračanica.

She graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Tuzla in 2003. She is the recipient of the “Silver Plaque of the University of Tuzla”. After graduating, she became an employee of the University Clinical Center Tuzla. She specialized in nuclear medicine and works in the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine of the University Clinical Center Tuzla. She completed her postgraduate studies in the field of nuclear medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb (Croatia) with an average grade of 10.0. She completed EU education in thyroid ultrasound. She completed EU education in neck and neck organ ultrasound. She received her Master’s degree in Zagreb (Croatia) in 2013. She defended her doctoral dissertation in 2018 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In her daily work, she deals with all aspects of nuclear medicine with an emphasis on scintigraphic diagnostic procedures. For the most part, her daily practice consists of caring for, diagnosing, and treating patients with thyroid diseases, including thyroid scintigraphy, aspiration punctures, clinical examinations and patient monitoring, as well as thyroid and neck ultrasound.

She is an associate professor and head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the Pharmaceutical-Health and Dental Faculty in Travnik, and she is also the head of the Department for Norms in Radiology. She is the author and co-author of several scientific and professional papers published in international and domestic professional medical journals. She is an active participant in international congresses in the field of nuclear medicine. She is one of the authors in the book CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES AND COMORBIDITIES (TKD Šahinpašić, Sarajevo 2019). She is fluent in English.
